Installation methods
Transverse joints

Beaded Slip Joint
DESCRIPTION:
Galvanized steel sleeve inserted at both ends inside the conduit.
APPLICATIONS:
The most standard and least expensive method for commercial ventilation systems.
LOW PRESSURE:
Insert sleeve into conduit, secure with metal screws. Then seal the joint with self-adhesive tape (aluminum, PVC or air duct tape).
-alternative method:
Generously apply butyl sealant to the ends of the sleeve or to the inside surface of the conduit, insert the sleeve into the conduit and secure with self-drilling metal screws every 8 to 12 inches min.
HIGH PRESSURE:
Insert sleeve into conduit, secure with metal screws. Apply duct sealant with brush and embed fiberglass mesh tape in sealant. Follow sealant manufacturer’s instructions.

"Van Stone" Flange Joint
DESCRIPTION:
Angle Iron or Flat Bar flange fully welded on pipe and fittings. A flange retains the flange but allows it to rotate for hole alignment. (Cannot be used on coiled tubing)
APPLICATIONS:
Mainly used in industrial applications or for pipe over 36″dia in commercial applications. Use 3/8″ dia bolts all around and washers as required. Use gasketing or sealant as required. Use washers if necessary. Use gasket according to application.

Welded flange joint
DESCRIPTION:
Steel flanges in angle iron or flat iron. The flange is continuously welded to the conduit.
APPLICATIONS:
Usually used for industrial applications or for pipes larger than 36″ diameter in commercial systems. Bolt all around with 3/8 “diam. bolts. Use washers if necessary. Use gasket according to application.

"Drawband" joint
APPLICATIONS:
Usually used for industrial applications where occasional dismantling is required or in confined spaces. Bolt with 3/8″ diam. bolts. Use washers if necessary. Use sealant or gasket according to application.

"V" collar joint
DESCRIPTION:
V-shaped collar, 1/2″ x 1/2″ 16 gauge galvanized. An edge must be formed at the end of each pipe to be joined. Assembly bolts on each side of the half-moons. A neoprene ribbon is included in the collar.
APPLICATIONS:
Usually used for industrial applications where occasional disassembly may be required. Provides a good seal and a relatively smooth interior without sticking.

Male-Female Air-flow Joint
DESCRIPTION:
Galvanized steel sleeve inserted at one end inside the conduit and the other end outside the conduit.
APPLICATIONS:
Typically used for dust collection applications where the inside of the duct must provide a snag-free flow surface.
